The Charlotte StrEATs Festival features the Neighborhood Cook-off battles, which pit chefs head-to-head in a cook-off to win the title of StrEATs Neighborhood Champion, and all ages are welcome at the event. Carolina BBQ Festival is also family-friendly, and 15 pitmasters offer samples across the event area in Victorial Yards. Elsewhere, families will also find food trucks throughout Uptown Charlotte, with the full schedule of trucks coming to the festival updated on the SHOUT! The annual arts and culture celebration is bringing over 200 installations, performances, events and more to Uptown Charlotte starting Friday, March 29, through Sunday, April 14. Visual art installations, sponsored by Lowe’s, will be found at Levine Avenue of the Arts, The Green, Romare Bearden Park, and in buildings, plazas, and alleyways throughout Uptown. Expect the return of the highly popular interactive installation “Impulse,” with its signature enormous, light-up seesaws on Levine Avenue of the Arts.

The festival kicks off on Friday, April 5 with a barbecue spread, crawfish boil and a private concert from Filmore. On Saturday, April 6, enjoy barbecue tastings, live music from North Carolina acts and vendors on site. A number of fan-favorite Charlotte SHOUT! Installations are returning to Uptown this year, including interactive seesaws and an amphitheater made from upcycled pianos at Grace on Brevard that's the first of its kind in the United States. Easter Eggs on Parade is a fun way for Charlotte SHOUT!

Step into a world where art meets motion, as you physically spin the panels to reveal the enchanting magic of transformation. Watch as distinct variations of the artwork unfold before you, evoking a sense of exploration and collaboration. The ten 6 feet (1,8 meters) gyroscope-like forms with, at the center, a dichroic film, offer new everchanging opportunities that reflect any ray of lights during the day while refracting the inner rings lighting at dusk.

The venue will be open every day for people to tinker with the keys or practice their skills, and it will host a number of musicians and live performances during the festival. Other performances include an Easter Praise Fest, local bands and a Jazz Fest to close out SHOUT!. Take in the performances while enjoying food from local vendors and admiring the 10+ murals on repurposed shipping containers. Food experiences, sponsored by Compass Group, include multiple festivals, like the Charlotte StrEATs Festival and the Carolina BBQ Festival.

Musical seesaws — This popular installation called "Impulse" returns to Levine Avenue of the Arts for this year's festival. Take a ride on one of about a dozen seesaws that glow and make sounds when they're in action. New for 2024, Charlotte StrEATs Uncorked highlights North Carolina’s unique wine regions and regional cuisines with pairings from area chefs. Both emerging and established artists perform an eclectic mix of genres.

Is an inclusive and inspirational sensory feast for all ages, with more than 200 events and attractions taking place over 17 days in Uptown, Charlotte. Over the three weekends, come experience local and international artists from a variety of backgrounds, collaborating to bring blank spaces to life. Filling the walls with color to take you on an adventure throughout the space. Immersive artwork, unique styles, kind-hearted humans, all making magic before your eyes.
Make sure to catch one of the shows and witness the beauty of this radical new structure. A Walk in the Shadows is an interactive installation by fiber artist Pam Imhof and SuperDaftBros. Crocheted lace hexagons are connected to form a canopy that viewers can explore from underneath. Viewers can look up and see all of the variations of colors and patterns in the crochet pieces themselves. A second walk and look down reveals the beautiful shadows that are created from the natural sunlight during the day. A Walk in the Shadows comes to life at night with lights by SuperDaftBros for a different experience.
Charlotte Ideas Festival takes place from April 3 to 5, 2024. It features a range of thinkers and innovators exploring a wide rang of topics. In addition, food trucks will be on hand throughout Charlotte SHOUT. It is presented by Charlotte Center City Partners. And if you want to be inspired by the art in a different way, register for yoga classes on The Green, and take in the sights of SHOUT!
The festival will run from April 1st through April 17th, with programming scheduled from 11 a.m. Jalia Stanley made sure we didn’t forget about her favorite part of the festival. In addition, local foodies can get a ticket to a culinary tasting tour at Gateway Village on April 15, and sample a variety of foods from restaurants representing different neighborhoods in Charlotte.
